How does the magic actually work?

All color changing mugs are black when cold. When you pour hot liquid into the mug, your design will display with a white background. If you plan to select one of the background colors that are available, you are essentially choosing the background color behind your design when the mug is hot. Please note, the mug handle stays black with any choice of background color.
