Set Yourself Up For Success – Tidy Up Your Life

We’ve researched the top masterminds and their methods on how to achieve the highest productivity not only throughout the day but through your life. Are you ready to jump in and learn something new?

Whether you work remotely from the comfort of your home or you commute to work, you are likely to have a designated space to perform your daily tasks.

Am I right?

Think about how that space makes you feel. Are you subconsciously collecting unnecessary things and cluttering your desk?

Check out a mastermind in organizational skills and her KonMari Method.

Marie Kondo had written books on organizing such as The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up. The KonMari method consists of gathering all your belongings and going through them one category at a time. She suggests to only keep things that make you happy.

Get More Sleep

Arianna Huffington explains the importance of adequate sleep and how much it matters to a personal and professional success.

Arianna Huffington explains that getting enough sleep leads to a more productive, effective, and joyful life.

Money and power – has led to an epidemic of burnout and stress-related illnesses, and erosion in the quality of our relationships, family life, and, ironically, our careers.

Set aside a certain amount of time to dial in and get your work done so when it comes to proper rest you can put your phone away and not get sucked into never-ending to-do lists.

Get Dressed

If PJs are your life! No judgement here but there is something to be said about dressing for success.

Two researches, Adam Galinsky and Hajo Adam, wrote an article about the idea of “Enclothed Cognition” where they describe how our thinking is affected by what clothing we wear. The clothing that we wear affects how we feel, act, and see ourselves.

That being said, dress not for what you currently do but instead dress for who you want to be!

I challenge you to declutter your closet, hop into the shower, put on real-people clothes and set new goals. You may be surprised what can happen in a few short months.

Tackle Important Tasks 1st Thing In The Morning

As an entrepreneur, you know that there is always never-ending to-do list of things that need to be done.

It can easily get very overwhelming.

The Ivy Lee Method suggests to write down the six most important tasks that need to be accomplished the night before. Prioritize them in order of importance.

When you wake up, concentrate only on the first task until you are finished. No distractions, no multitasking. Having one single thing to focus on leads to better overall work.

Get Yourself An Accountability Buddy

Achieving anything in life takes practice. When you get your accountability buddy you all of the sudden engage in the power of social expectations.

Expectations are powerful because you don’t want to let anyone down or make a fool out of yourself.

"ASTD found that if you have a specific accountability appointment with a person you’ve committed, you will increase your chance of a success up to 95%."

The American Society of Training and Development (ASTD) Tweet

Whether you like it or not, it is a good idea to set goals with someone who is going through the same stage of life.

Someone who won’t question your actions and will support your desire to make a change on a personal and professional level.

Establish A “No Phone Zone”

We are constantly connected, that’s why it’s important to set time aside to focus on things that need to get done.

Don’t look at your phone, better yet leave your phone in a different room. Phones alone can be very distracting.

Browsing Reddit, reading your favorite blog, or periodically checking Facebook statuses can make you lose hours of your time.

Minimize all distractions that can be toxic and harmful to your business.

Set A Specific Time To Check Email

Email can be this never-ending rabbit hole that many of us get sucked into on daily basis.

It can become almost involuntarily to check our emails to get away from the things that need to be done.

The 4-Hour Workweek by Tim Ferriss suggests checking email just twice a day in order to have a more productive life.

Pro Tip: Monitor your email for a day to find out when your inbox is the busiest and then create a schedule around your peak hours.

Create Batching Schedule

Every time I listen to a podcast or follow an entrepreneur online I find myself hearing about the same thing over and over again, they call it batching.

What is batching?

It’s a process of setting a certain period of time to be creative. You can batch multiple ways, on a daily basis, monthly, or yearly.

Establish Your Morning Routine

Every day is a gift, therefore, everyday should start as one.

According to Claire Diaz Oritz, your ideal morning routine matters. The way you start your day sets the tone for your entire day.

Last but not least, you can create your own productivity hacks. You know yourself the best, don’t be afraid to use your experience to create personal productivity tools.
